Targeted physical fitness is not about lifting the most weight at the gym or competing in a marathon. Although visually appealing, someone with 6% body fat and ripped abs or big muscles is NOT necessarily physically fit.

At Fit4thestreet, our philosophy is that true fitness is a state of awareness that allows your inner strength to become functional in the face of anything that life brings your way. Targeted fitness is the art of building a well-prepared and functional body for the rest of your life. Contrary to popular opinion, this is not a hard thing to do.

A note about preparedness

Violent stories on the news are basic confirmations of the vulnerability we all face as ordinary citizens. There are no rules on the street.

You must be prepared to do whatever it takes to survive for yourself and your loved ones, and being fit is the key. Being fit is a spiritual, mental, and physical matter. It is also undervalued until it is needed most.

There are two reasons street fights are lost. The victim is caught in an unfamiliar range (there are 4 ranges of physical combat... kicking, punching, trapping and grappling). Alternatively they get tired from lack of conditioning or a combination of both. You can be the most experienced martial artist, but without the proper conditioning to combat the rapid heart beat, anxiety, fear, fight or flight response, or the endurance needed to last during a violent encounter, all the technique in the world will not save you.

A black belt does not guarantee survival, nor does it mean you are physically fit. If you are looking for ways to boost your self confidence in your ability to protect yourself and become fit without the same old gym routine, give my program a try. Commit to being fit. Fit4thestreet!

Bob Trotter's services are offered at two locations, Roger's Park or Krav Maga Illinois in Highland Park. Private and limited semi-private (2 people max) classes are offered at our Rogers Park location while training seminars as well as private classes are offered at the Highland Park location. Private and semi-private seminars can be arranged at the Roger's Park location on request. In-home private instruction is also available for a negotiated fee.
